Tender Opportunity: Drilling and Development of Maikona Borehole
SND, with funding from the World Food Programme (WFP) under the Ecosystem Community Livelihood and Infrastructure Project, invites qualified and experienced contractors to submit bids for the drilling and development of Maikona Borehole in Maikona Village, North Horr Sub-County, Marsabit County.
The assignment is intended to support improved access to water and strengthen community resilience in the area.
Scope of the Assignment
The tender includes drilling and development works such as:
- DTH drilling of the borehole
- Supply and installation of plain and slotted steel casing
- Supply and installation of gravel pack
- Borehole development and cleaning
- Reaming and boring
- Bentonite sealing
- Construction of a concrete plinth and well cap
- Pump testing
- Geological logging and sampling
- Water chemical and bacteriological analysis
- Preparation of borehole completion data and reports
The tender also provides for mobilisation, contractor’s camp arrangements, insurance and demobilisation upon completion of the works.

Eligibility & Technical Requirements
Among the mandatory requirements, bidders are required to provide:
- Business Registration Certificate / Certificate of Incorporation
- CR12
- Valid Business Permit
- PIN and KRA Compliance Certificate
- Duly completed, signed and stamped BOQ
For the technical evaluation, bidders are required to demonstrate relevant professional and technical capacity, including:
- NCA registration and practising licence
- Qualified lead technical staff with relevant engineering qualifications and experience
- Extensive experience in Air and Mud Drilling
- Evidence of similar assignments completed
- Audited reports for the last two years
