1. Introduction
Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering nomadic pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. Established in 2007 and registered with the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya, SND envisions a resilient and dignified society where pastoralist communities thrive.
Our mission is to empower and transform pastoralist communities to achieve self-reliance and resilience through targeted interventions across multiple development sectors.

3. Project Overview
With funding support from Plan International, SND intends to supply, fabricate, and install shade nets, shade net structures, and drip irrigation systems to benefit two women groups in Dukana Village. This initiative aims to enhance climate-resilient agricultural practices and economic empowerment for women in pastoralist communities.
4. Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be responsible for:
- Supply, fabrication, and installation of shade nets and shade net structures.
- Installation of a complete drip irrigation system tailored to local climatic conditions.
- Training and capacity building for the beneficiary women groups on the operation and maintenance of the installed systems.
- Provision of technical support and after-sales service within the agreed warranty period.
5. Bid Submission Guidelines
Qualified and interested bidders are invited to submit their quotations in line with the provided technical specifications.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Proof of business registration and valid tax compliance certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in shade net structure fabrication and drip irrigation installation.
- A detailed bill of quantities (BoQ) and work plan.
- At least three references from similar past projects.
6. Selection Criteria
Bidders will be evaluated based on:
✅ Technical capacity and past experience.
✅ Competitive pricing and cost-effectiveness.
✅ Quality of materials and installation approach.
✅ Capacity to train and support beneficiaries post-installation.
✅ Inclusion of local labor and gender-sensitive approaches in implementation.
