🌍 Building Financial Resilience through Community Empowerment in Samburu

Over three days (28th–30th October), 15 Community Health Promoters from seven health facilities in Samburu Central took part in a comprehensive Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) training at Kisima Catholic Hall.

The training aimed at strengthening the capacity of CHPs to promote financial inclusion as part of ongoing Positive Deviance (PD) Hearth programming, linking community health and nutrition outcomes with sustainable livelihoods.

Facilitated by a VSLA master trainer and conducted in collaboration with the Samburu County Department of Social Services, this initiative equips CHPs with the knowledge and tools to establish and manage VSLAs within their communities, creating pathways for families to save, access small loans, and invest in healthier, more resilient futures.

This activity was implemented through the partnership and funding support of the World Food Programme (WFP) Kenya, underscoring the power of collaboration in achieving sustainable community transformation.

📘 Framework Alignment:
This initiative contributes directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — advancing SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). It further aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030, the National Social Protection Policy, and the Samburu County Integrated Development Plan (2023–2027), reinforcing national and county priorities on community empowerment, social inclusion, and resilience building.

💪🏽 Empowered communities are resilient communities.
