1️⃣ Background

About SND:

The Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local non-governmental organization working with Nomadic Pastoralist Communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. The organization was registered in Kenya with the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) coordination board as a national NGO on the 6th of Dec 2007 and an agency for civil society organization on 21st of October 2019 in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. It sprouted from two Community Based Organizations (CBOs) Pastoralist Strategies and Rehabilitation Programme (PASREP) which was registered in January 2002 and Community Development and Poverty Alleviation Program (CODPAP) registered in January 2004). The two CBOs merged to enable their resourceful persons share wealth of experience and skills in order to address myriads of challenges facing pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya.

 

The organization has grown rapidly over the last 17 years in terms of geographical coverage, scope of technical programs as well as financial and human resources. SND commands a wealth of experience in development/ humanitarian work as well as managing huge donor resources. Over the years it has received funding from various Local and International NGOs, United Nations (UN) agencies, European Union as well as United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Health and Peace building programs. The operational capacity of SND has also been strengthened during the past 5 years through an increased budgetary allocation and recruitment of competent staffs to enhance organizational capacity.

About the Project:
In partnership with Oxfam Kenya & Oxfam Ethiopia, SND is implementing the Integrated Cross-Border Response Pilot Project in the Moyale Corridor (Kenya-Ethiopia border).
Objective: Enhance resilience of climate-affected households through group cash grants, strengthening income capacities & fostering cross-border collaboration.


2️⃣ Objective of the Assignment

To capture & produce high-quality documentation of case studies & success stories focusing on ‘before & after’ perspectives—showcasing the transformative impact of the project.


3️⃣ Scope of Work

The production company will:

  • Visit targeted sites: Forole, Golole, Anona, Bori & Somare villages
  • Engage with:
    • 4 project participants
    • 3 community leaders
    • 4 stakeholders
  • Document:
    • 4 detailed case studies/success stories (with personal experiences & testimonials)
    • High-quality photographs & videos
    • 4 short documentaries (3-5 minutes each)
  • Produce a structured report with images
  • Ensure ethical storytelling & participant consent (adhering to safeguarding policies)

4️⃣ Deliverables

5️⃣ Duration & Timeline

6️⃣ Required Qualifications & Experience

✔️ Proven experience documenting development/humanitarian projects
✔️ Expertise in storytelling, photography, videography & editing
✔️ Capacity to work in remote cross-border areas
✔️ Ethical standards & safeguarding principles
✔️ Prior NGO/donor-funded program experience (added advantage)
