About Strategies for Northern Development (SND)
Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local non-governmental organization established in 2007 and working with pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. SND’s work focuses on strengthening resilience, promoting dignity, and supporting sustainable livelihoods through interventions in humanitarian response, livelihoods development, protection, climate resilience, WASH, and institutional effectiveness.

Through its programmes, SND works closely with communities, county governments, and development partners to improve livelihoods, strengthen local systems, and enhance community resilience across ASAL regions.

Tender Opportunity: Construction of BMU Centres of Excellence
Strategies for Northern Development (SND), in collaboration with the County Government of Marsabit and with support from the World Food Programme (WFP), invites qualified and reputable contractors to submit tenders for the construction of the following projects in Loiyangalani Ward, Laisamis Sub County, Marsabit County:

• Construction of Centre of Excellence for Nakuron BMU
• Construction of Centre of Excellence for Moite BMU
• Construction of Centre of Excellence for Loiyangalani BMU

The proposed works are aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihoods, improving fisheries value chains, promoting local enterprise development, and enhancing resilience among communities living around Lake Turkana.

Scope of Works
The projects involve the construction and development of community infrastructure, including but not limited to:

• BMU Centres of Excellence
• Utility shops and enterprise spaces
• Cleaning shades and fish handling facilities
• Elevated water towers and water storage systems
• Gabion shoreline protection works
• Twin latrine facilities
• Associated plumbing, electrical, roofing, masonry, steel, and finishing works

Submission Requirements
Interested bidders must submit the following mandatory documents:

• Certificate of Incorporation or Business Registration Certificate
• Valid Business Permit
• KRA PIN Certificate and Valid Tax Compliance Certificate
• Company Profile with details of similar assignments completed
• Duly completed and stamped Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Evidence of previous experience in similar construction works
• Audited financial reports for the last two years or recent bank statements
• Relevant licenses and certifications where applicable

Submission Instructions
Completed tender documents should be submitted on or before 27th May 2026.
