Today, we begin the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global movement that invites all of us to take a stand for dignity, safety, and equality.
For communities across Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia, this is more than a campaign. It is a call to protect the women and girls who hold our families and society together.
Every day, women and girls face risks shaped by climate shocks, conflict, displacement, and long-standing harmful practices. Yet every day, we also see the strength of communities speaking up, challenging norms, and choosing protection over silence.
As we launch the 16 Days, we invite you to be part of this change.
You can help by:
• Starting conversations that challenge harmful attitudes.
• Standing with survivors by creating safe, supportive spaces.
• Sharing accurate information that empowers others.
• Using your voice online and offline to promote respect and safety.
Ending GBV is a collective responsibility, and every action, every voice, every post adds power to this movement.
Together, we can build a region where every woman and girl is safe, valued, and free to thrive.
