Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local, fully registered non-governmental organization working with nomadic pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. Registered in Kenya in December 2007, SND is driven by a vision to see a society where all pastoralist communities are resilient and live a dignified life, and a mission to empower and transform pastoralist communities to be self-resilient. With funding support from the World Food Programme (WFP), SND is implementing Positive Deviance Hearth (PDH) interventions in Marsabit County and invites qualified and reputable suppliers to submit quotations for the following assignments.

🟦 RFQ 1: PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF 5,000 LITRES PLASTIC WATER TANK (Click to download)

SND invites quotations for the purchase, delivery, and installation of 5,000-litre plastic water storage tank at Elgade Primary School. The assignment includes supply of a high-quality plastic tank with appropriate inlet, outlet, overflow provisions, and UV-resistant properties, preferably Ken Tank or Roto Tank. The scope further covers fabrication and installation of a 3-metre elevated steel tank structure complete with ladder, guardrails, beams, stanchions, bracing, and concrete foundations.

The works also include construction of a communal water point near the tank, associated drainage works, excavation, filling, reinforced concrete works, masonry walling, finishes, and all required plumbing works. All fittings must meet applicable BS and EN standards, and the supplier is expected to deliver a fully functional and tested system. All quoted costs must be inclusive of 16% VAT.

SND invites quotations for the supply and delivery of agricultural inputs under the Positive Deviance Hearth programme targeting Maikona Hub in Marsabit County. The assignment includes supply of assorted fruit tree seedlings such as Neem, Acacia Tortilis, Orange Pixie, Grafted Mango, Lemon, Avocado, and Pawpaw Red Lady F1, as well as Cabode OFSP vines with specified node and planting depth requirements.

Additionally, suppliers are invited to quote for assorted seeds including cowpeas, watermelon, spinach, sukuma wiki, onions, amaranth, carrots, and capsicum, packaged as specified. The scope further includes supply of farm inputs such as vertical growing bags, metallic watering cans, hoes, forks, pangas, and other hand tools. Quoted costs must include transport to SND offices in Marsabit and be inclusive of 16% VAT.

SND further invites quotations for supply of seeds, seedlings, OFSP vines, and farm inputs to support school nutrition activities at Elgade Primary School. The scope includes supply of beans, cowpeas, assorted vegetable seeds, Cabode OFSP vines, fruit tree seedlings, and essential farm tools such as hose pipes, watering cans, hoes, forks, spades, slashers, pangas, and weighing scales.

The supplier is expected to deliver quality-certified inputs that meet the specifications outlined in the RFQ document. All prices quoted must be inclusive of transportation to SND offices and 16% VAT.

📑 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL RFQs

Interested bidders must submit complete quotations accompanied by the following documents:

  • Business Registration Certificate or Certificate of Incorporation
  • CR12 or copy of ID (for sole proprietors/partnerships)
  • Valid Business Permit
  • KRA PIN and Tax Compliance Certificate
  • Duly filled, completed, and stamped BOQ
  • Proof of similar assignments completed
  • Audited accounts for the last two years or bank statements for the last six months

Completed quotations must be submitted on or before the respective closing dates via:

Each submission must clearly indicate the correct RFQ reference number in the email subject line or on the envelope.

Shortlisting will be done on a rolling basis.
