ABOUT STRATEGIES FOR NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT (SND)
Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local, fully registered non-governmental organization established in 2007 and working with nomadic pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. SND is guided by a vision to see a society where all pastoralist communities are resilient and live a dignified life and a mission to empower and transform pastoralist communities to be self-resilient. Its key thematic areas include Peace, Conflict Resolution and Governance; Humanitarian Assistance and Emergency Response; Protection, Gender Equality and Inclusion; Climate Justice and Resilience; Livelihood and Enterprise Development; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); and Institutional Effectiveness.
With funding support from the World Food Programme (WFP), SND invites eligible, qualified, and reputable contractors to submit tenders for the execution of the following works across Marsabit County.
1. Tender: Supply of 10 × 5,000 Litre Plastic Water Tanks, Construction of Tank Plinths & Fabrication of Shade Nets – Mansile Farm
SND invites bids for the supply and installation of ten (10) 5,000-litre plastic water storage tanks, construction of tank plinths, and fabrication and installation of shade nets at Mansile Farm. The scope includes supply of UV-stabilized plastic water tanks, construction of reinforced concrete tank bases, plumbing connections, and fabrication of shade net structures using steel supports and high-quality shade netting. All works must be completed in accordance with the specifications provided in the tender document.
2. Tender: Construction of a Beekeeping Centre of Excellence – Badassa
SND further invites qualified contractors to submit tenders for the construction of a Beekeeping Centre of Excellence in Badassa. The assignment involves construction works including excavation, foundations, reinforced concrete works, masonry walling, roofing, finishes, and all associated builder’s works required to deliver a fully functional training and production facility. All construction must strictly adhere to the technical specifications outlined in the tender document.
3. Tender: Construction of a Training Hall & Fencing of 2 Acres – Vetiver Farm, Dub Goba Village
SND invites bids for the construction of a training hall and fencing of two (2) acres at the Vetiver Farm in Dub Goba Village. The scope includes construction of a training hall complete with structural, roofing, and finishing works, as well as fabrication and installation of perimeter fencing, concrete posts, bracing poles, and a security gate. All works shall be carried out in compliance with the approved drawings and specifications.
4. Tender: Construction of a Bead Work Centre of Excellence – Kalacha
SND also invites bids for the construction of a Bead Work Centre of Excellence in Kalacha. The project entails construction of a purpose-built facility including excavation, reinforced concrete works, masonry, roofing, finishes, doors, windows, and all necessary builder’s works. The contractor is expected to deliver the works to the required standards and within the stipulated timelines as detailed in the tender document.
5. Tender: Fencing of 10 Acres Farm – Maikona, North Horr Sub-County
SND invites eligible contractors to submit tenders for the fencing of a 10-acre farm in Maikona, North Horr Sub-County. The works include fabrication, delivery, and installation of plastic-coated chain-link fencing mounted on concrete fencing posts, provision of bracing poles, excavation works, and construction of reinforced concrete gate pillars with a metallic security gate. All costs must be inclusive of 16% VAT as stipulated in the tender document.
6. Tender: Fencing of 36 Acres Farm – Elgade, North Horr Sub-County
Additionally, SND invites tenders for the fencing of a 36-acre farm in Elgade, North Horr Sub-County. The scope covers installation of chain-link fencing, concrete posts, bracing poles, excavation works, reinforced concrete pillars, and fabrication and installation of a security gate finished with primer and gloss paint. All works must conform strictly to the specifications outlined in the tender document, with costs inclusive of applicable taxes.

Shortlisting will be done on a rolling basis.
