Last week, from the 15th -17th October, in Moyale, the World Food Programme (WFP), Strategies for Northern Development (SND), and the County Government of Marsabit came together to agree on shared priorities for tackling food insecurity in Northern Kenya.

The discussions were guided by practical, data-driven approaches to food security, resilience, and climate adaptation, all anchored on the realities of communities living in the ASALs.

The session placed strong emphasis on implementation with the goal of making sure that support goes where it’s needed most.

At the heart of this collaboration is a shared belief that progress happens when organizations, governments, and communities work hand in hand, combining expertise, resources, and local knowledge to deliver lasting impact.

From enhancing fish production and financial inclusion around Lake Turkana, to strengthening nutrition practices through the PD Hearth model, and restoring degraded ecosystems under the Ecosystem, Community Infrastructure and Livelihoods (ECL) programme, partners developed cross-sector solutions that deliver real, measurable results for families, farmers, and local businesses.

The Moyale co-creation workshop was not just about designing programmes; it was about rethinking how we work together, building systems that empower, strengthening resilience that lasts, and shaping a more sustainable Northern Kenya, where every partnership truly makes a difference.
