Humanitarian Assistance

SND aspire to respond to situations of urgent needs (emergency), and also in reducing the vulnerabilities of the communities and their families to natural and human made disasters. To reduce vulnerabilities, SND mainstreams – when possible – Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Preparedness in its emergency projects and development programmes, but also implements, with the same objective, specific Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Preparedness projects.

SND aims to supports people who are victim of natural disasters, war and displacement and who are not able to cope on their own in the emergency situation they find themselves in.SND humanitarian assistance complies with the principles of humanitarian aid – humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality – and respects International Humanitarian Law. SND has delivered Supplementary food/feed support; cash transfer programs, Provision of shelters, restocking support; access to safe drinking water and protection of children from the threat of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence among the drought stricken population. SND will work with County Governments and stakeholders to strengthen the disaster preparedness and response and support creation of contingency plans and strategies to improve disaster preparedness and humanitarian response capacity. They will also participate in supporting monitoring and evaluation of emergency response interventions.
