Food Security, Sustainable Livelihood and Resilience

SND has designed and implemented a sustainable food systems program that targets small holder producers mostly in the agricultural sector which is the backbone of our economy, SND has focused on resilience building interventions to strengthen the capacity of communities and local government structures to improve their livelihood and socio-economic conditions; effectively manage and conserve their resources; and strengthen their cultural understanding and trust to bring about sustainable resources and development against future shocks. SND is keen to ensure that measures to address food security are included in the present Strategic Plan and will be the underlying priority.

The organization will align its activities around food security to SDG 1:to eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty, and participate in the implementation big 4 agenda on food security as prioritized by the Government. The focus on food security is closely linked to improved production practices that involve less waste and fewer losses, helping also to alleviate the poverty situation in many Counties.
