<p><strong>WASH Engineer</strong></p>
<p><strong>Location: Moyale</strong></p>
<p><strong>Period of Contract: 12 Months</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong><strong>Post: 1</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Key Competence:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in environmental / Public Health, Water and Civil Engineering.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in managing WASH grants is preferred.</li>
<li>Experience working on Bill of Quantities and design for water and sanitation facilities, particularly in ASAL communities.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in WASH softwares such as GIS and Remote sensing.</li>
<li>Be able to work under pressure as may be required;</li>
<li>Be a team player</li>
<li>Be self-driven and able to work within tight deadlines</li>
<li>Detail-oriented, dependable, and productive</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience in managing humanitarian programs involving rural <span style="font-size: 1rem;">communities to promote humanitarian response.</span></li>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></span></p>
<p>The purpose of this position is:<br />
To provide support in developing, planning, implementing, and monitoring the WASH project and supervising, conducting designs, studies, and reviewing water resources, sanitation, and hygiene development activities.</p>
<p>The WASH Engineer is responsible for the overall WASH project operations.</p>
<p><strong>Other Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Implement WASH activities, including solarization of boreholes, drilling, repair of<br />
water infrastructure, and promoting good hygiene practices.</li>
<li>Conduct WASH rapid needs/market assessments to confirm the price and availability of key WASH items and identify beneficiary priority needs and hygiene behavior.</li>
<li>Support community health volunteers to conduct hygiene promotion at the community levels (campaigns, public demonstrations on masks , water purification aqua tab use).</li>
<li>Support in the distribution of WASH NFIs to all the targeted HHs such as aqua tabs, soap,20-litre jerrycans, and 100 litre storage containers.</li>
<li>In collaboration with County/Sub County public health office, support in identification and training of community health volunteers on key infection<br />
prevention and control (IPC) measures using MOH-approved packages.</li>
<li>Represent organization and project during quarterly coordination meetings<br />
with county/sub-county WASH working groups.</li>
<li>Support in conducting project baseline, post distribution, and endline assessments.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of the specifications and documentation for the<br />
procurement of key WASH-related supplies in coordination with the SND<br />
procurement team.</li>
<li>Prepare project monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports, and assist in<br />
WASH project proposal developments and end of the project evaluations.</li>
<li>Develop design plans, working drawings, technical specifications, bill of quantities as per approved standards by the Ministry of Water.<br />
Undertake other duties as required.</li>

<p>The Emergency Response Officer will be deployed within the line programs management, to support the interventions that are designed to address the most urgent life-saving food &amp; protection needs. He/she will be expected to support on all aspects of setting up and<br />
managing all operational areas connected to beneficiary selection and registration, baseline, mid-term and end-line line surveys, household listing, formation of project implementation committees, addressing complains, providing feedback and reporting.</p>

<li>Prepare detailed work plan and accompanying budget for the timely and realistic achievement of project objectives</li>
<li>Ensure program implementation is on time and target using effective M&amp;E systems to reach desired impacts.</li>
<li>Work with other program staff to ensure that field experiences are documented and used for learning and to advocate on behalf of the communities with which we work.</li>

The driver will drive the authorized passenger, and check mechanical condition of SND vehicle</p>
<p><strong>Other Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<li>Drives SND vehicles for the transport of authorized person(s).</li>
<li>Perform daily vehicle checks and report maintenance needs promptly</li>
<li>Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc., performing minor repairs, and arranges for other repairs to ensure that the vehicle is kept clean</li>
<li>Drive carefully and safely at all times in line and checks to ensure that staffs, other road users and the vehicle in your care are safe;</li>
<li>Ensure that all vehicle reports are duly approved and prepared on a monthly basis; records of mileage, fuel and maintenance costs made available to supervisor on or before scheduled dates</li>
<li>Maintain a professional appearance by ensuring good personal hygiene</li>
<li>Ensure that adequate knowledge of the destination and route is gathered before departure;</li>
<li>Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean and roadworthy state at all times;</li>
<li>Ensure that approval for repairs is always obtained before taking the vehicle to the garage;</li>
<li>Ensure adherence to traffic rules and regulations and maximum speed limit as prescribed by the traffic Act, laws of Kenya.</li>
<li>Reckless driving shall be sufficient ground for the driver’s recall and consequently be a cause of disciplinary action.</li>
<li>Establishes good and considerate working relationships with all staff in the organization, demonstrating respect for their own roles and responsibilities;</li>
<li>Be available outside standard hours in case of emergency and during missions</li>
<li>Ensures that in the event of an accident, SND rules/policies and traffic regulations are followed</li>
<li>Check validity of vehicle insurance covers and police inspection stickers</li>
<li>Ensure the assigned vehicle is serviced as stipulated in the periodic servicing.</li>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></span></p>
<p>The <strong>Humanitarian Coordination and Liason officer</strong> has the overall day to day responsibility for implementation, coordination of the DRA drought response project in Borena and works closely with other staff and stakeholders to deliver results. In addition, he/She will support in ongoing analysis of the humanitarian context, assessing emergency related funding opportunities (fundraising) to support ongoing and new responses, representing SND Ethiopia in relevant emergency coordination, provision of technical guidelines to field emergency staff.</p>
<p>The <strong>Humanitarian Coordination and Liason officer </strong>works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and liaises with all other SND programs/projects in Kenya and Ethiopia.</p>

<p><strong>Results Areas, Main Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Project management and delivery of results:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day implementation of the emergency project in Borena</li>
<li>Responsible for the overall utilization of the emergency project budget in accordance with SND and donor financial procedure and regulations.</li>
<li>Advise project team on a range of issues including context and need analysis, response modality and scale, targeting, etc.</li>
<li>Ensure emergency responses are in compliance to SND standards. Ensure that all responses are contextually appropriate.</li>
<li>In coordination with the MEAL Officer, develop appropriate M&amp;E for the SND emergency project in Borena.</li>
<li>Supervise monitoring and evaluation of the emergency project to ensure the overall implementation is in accordance with agreed work plans, donor agreements and humanitarian accountability framework.</li>
<li>Ensure the timely and quality reporting of the emergency project as per donor and internal guidelines</li>
<li>Participate in quarterly review meetings and provide progressive updates of the project.</li>

<p><strong><u> Humanitarian Assistance Programme Development</u></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Work closely with Executive Director to identify funding opportunities that complement SND´s humanitarian aid programs in Ethiopia.</li>
<li>Support the expansion and strengthening of the Humanitarian Aid program within the framework of SND’s Strategy.</li>
<li>Provide technical oversight and leadership in relation to SND´s Humanitarian Aid program in Ethiopia</li>
<li>Regularly monitor the humanitarian context changes and adapt programs to respond to the needs of affected populations.</li>
<li>Advise/support rapid needs assessments or/and participate in joint need assessments with other humanitarian actors in the country.</li>
<li>Provide directions and guidance to the SND top management on the implementation of emergency response</li>
<li>Regularly assess the technical capacity of humanitarian aid staff including partners and facilitate capacity building training.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other relevant colleagues to explore and pilot new approaches in line with SND priorities.</li>

<p><strong><u>Coordination and representation: </u></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Establish strong linkage with key sector coordination, NGOs, UN agencies, government counterparts and CSO actors at the national, and local level.</li>
<li>Coordinate with other humanitarian response actors to promote operational and program coordination.</li>
<li>Actively represent and promote SND in emergency coordination and working group; share relevant information with the management.</li>
<li>Advocate SND´s humanitarian program with donors and other humanitarian stakeholders.</li>

<li>Coordinate and facilitate community meetings and dialogues with stakeholders on GBV &amp; protection issues and develop action plans</li>

<p>The purpose of this position is to provide leadership during the implementation of “Kijana Jihusishe: Youth Promoting Peaceful 2022 Elections in Kenya” that aims at contributing to the strengthening of female and male youth leadership capacities for a nonviolent, free, and inclusive 2022 electoral process in Kenya.</p>
<p><strong>Other Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<li>Analyze risks and opportunities</li>
<li>Monitor project progress, annual project review and handle any issues that arise</li>
<li>Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants</li>
<li>Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports</li>
<li>Engage Community stakeholders and policymakers to have an increased awareness of the importance of sustainable youth inclusion in peaceful electoral and political processes and effective community-level response mechanisms</li>
<li>Ensure effective and timely implementation of project activities • Scheduling stakeholder meetings and facilitating communication between the project manager and stakeholders throughout the project period.</li>
<li>Identify and document challenges in implementation that would have a negative impact and or undermine the performance of the project, identify solutions and implement actions on a timely basis to avert negative performance in consultation with the Executive Director and other program team members</li>
<li>Enhance teamwork and synergy in other SND program activities</li>
</ul>

<p>The Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a local non-governmental organization working with Nomadic Pastoralist Communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. SND is guided by a vision to see a society where all Pastoralist Communities are resilient and live a dignified life.</p>
<p>Key areas of focus include; (1) Peace Building and Governance, (2) Food Security, Sustainable Livelihoods and Resilience, (3) Child Protection and Education, (4) Water, Sanitation and Health and (5) Humanitarian assistance.</p>
<p>We are seeking application from qualified individual to fill the following open position;</p>
<p><strong>Project Coordinator- Kijana Jihusishe Project</strong></p>
<p><strong>Location: Moyale / Marsabit </strong></p>
<p><strong>Post: 1</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Key Competence:</strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>University Degree in Commerce (BCOM), BBA, BBM, or other related fields. Specialized in Finance or Accounting.</li>
<li>Holder of CPAK/ACCA</li>
<li>Membership in a recognized professional accountancy body such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accounts (ICPAK) added advantage.</li>
<li>Have proven financial management experience of a minimum of 3 years in NGO.</li>
<li>Be able to work under pressure as may be required;</li>
<li>Be a team player</li>
<li>Be self-driven and able to work within tight deadlines</li>
<li>Well conversant with the accounting system, e.g., Quick book</li>
<li>Excellent in computer packages especially excel.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></span></p>
<p>The role of the Finance Officer involves providing financial and administrative support to the organization. He/she is responsible for maintaining sound financial and accounting systems and controls for the organization. The role entails performing day-to-day financial accounting tasks, including, processing payments, filing, and document retrieval.</p>
<p><strong>Other Roles and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Keep accurate records for all daily transactions</li>
<li>Prepare balance sheets</li>
<li>Oversee the preparation of all financial statements, invoices as required</li>
<li>Ensure accounts payables and accounts receivables are performed accurately and timely</li>
<li>Update internal systems with financial data</li>
<li>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports</li>
<li>Reconcile bank statements</li>
<li>Participate in financial audits</li>
<li>Track bank deposits and payments</li>
<li>Assist in budget preparation and ensure all expenses are within the assigned project budget</li>
<li>Review and implement financial policies</li>
<li>Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting</li>
<li>Perform financial analysis and management tasks</li>
<li>Review financial paperwork and procedures and make appropriate changes.</li>
</ul>
